Turkey Visits School

It’s surreal that I have a child old enough to be in school.

Wasn’t he just born? Like yesterday?

It’s just crazy is what it is.

Today the Turkey got to visit his big brother’s Pre-k class. It was family day and the parents and siblings got to come observe all the fun happening in pre-k.

And let me tell you, it was super cute. Those might be the ten cutest kids I’ve ever seen in my life.

Owen wasn’t too thrilled initially that his little brother and his mom would be invading HIS classroom this morning but he warmed up to the idea enough to be polite and compliant about it.

Turkey is like a bull in a china cabinet so I was a little concerned  that Owen would kick us out of class when he started busting up circle time and stealing the kids’ faces off of the “Who’s Here?” Owl Attendance Tree. But Owen let us stay despite the ruckus we were causing.

I was so proud (and a little sad) to see him sitting so politely in circle time and raising his hand and participating.

I texted my husband and he texted back that we were doing a good job after all.

It’s hard to know sometimes.

But moments like those you just know you’ve been doing something right.

And then the Turkey starts rummaging through the teacher’s cabinets and I’m back to wondering.

At least the teachers are prepared now for Turkey. Two years is going to go by fast ladies. You might want to glue everything down now.

And lock up the sand table.
